Adding files

You can add music using the file menu, or simple drag-n-drop; If your have your music in a directory with often changing content, you may want to use the AutoRefresh feature.
Reading files may take some time.
You will see an small progress bar showing the estimated progress in the upper left corner of the player, and the Windows taskbar (if supported).
You may abort reading of files by pressing the Escape key.

Playback buttons

In comparison to other players, Calaym has an additional "End song" button, but limited functionality for the "Previous song" button


Previous  Skip to previous / random song
Play  Start playback / restart current song
Pause  Pause / unpause current song
Stop  Stops current song / repeal "Play next"
Skip  Skip to next / random song
End  Simulates the current song has ended and plays next one

With "Play next", you can set a song to play after the current song has ended. To revoke, use the "Stop" button.
Playback may also start automatically after adding songs if Automatic playback is enabled.

Repeat button

Single repeat song
Play / repeat all songs
Play random songs (also repeating)
If hilighted, the intro mode is active

Click the repeat mode button to quickly change repeate mode

Directory list

The directory list shows a list of the directories in your playlist, hilighting the current directory. Clicking on a directory will select it in the playlist. By default the directory list acts as a drop-down list, but when resized will be displayed as a permanently list.

Previous song list

Click on the button next to the 'current song' display / position bar to pop up the previous song list, which will show you the recent played songs

Find quick

Searches for one or more expressions and displays results in the list below.

*Seperate multiple keywords with semicolon(;). Search returns any item that contains at least one keyword
*Using a + before a keyword results in only items to be shown that contain that keyword, regardless the other keywords
*Using a - before a keyword results in no items to be shown that contain that keyword, regardless the other keywords

e.g. +camouflage;commandment;feel;-mix
will find all songs that
*contain 'camouflage', and
*do not contain 'mix', and
*contains 'commandment' and/or 'feel'

Keyboard shortcuts

All functions are available via menu. The keyboard command / shortcut is noted there, e.g.:

Pressing R will select a random song
Pressing Control+F will open the find window

*You can customize most controls in the Setup dialog (Options, More settings, Keyboard setup).
*When using Ctrl+<key>, be shure to release <key> before releasing Ctrl, or Calaym may react on <key> (without Ctrl).
*If 'Global keys' are activated, you can use special keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Alt+<Key>) with no need that Calaym is the current application / window. These can be found within the keyboard setup and customized.
*Please note that depending on hardware and software it may not be possible to process multiply simultaneous pressed keys, especially when using Ctrl+Alt+Shif+<Key>.

Failsave dialog

This dialog appears when you run Calaym via the "failsave" shortcut in the startmenu, or when starting the executable without the standart startmenu shortcut and Calaym was not quit properly the last time. It may also appears when starting multiple instances of Calaym.
If you don't need to change anything, just press the OK-button, or wait a few seconds (See timer at the bottom of the dialog)
